It is always an endeavour of the School Leaders and Management to make their schools safe. However, in spite of having financial and other resources the lapses in student safety cannot be ruled out. This could be due to piece-meal approach, Ad-hoc safety measures, school safety having been taken for granted, lack of system approach and overall culture and attitude prevailing in the society in general related to the health, safety and security issues.
In order to achieve a continuous safe school environment and to sustain it in the long term basis, schools must focus first on developing “organizational Capability & Capacity” through the leadership and management commitment, set clear policy, adopt system thinking and approach, plan, provide adequate resources, implement, monitor the system, review the results obtained and take suitable corrective and preventive action.
The National Safe School Accreditation and Award frameworks help schools build organizational capability and capacity, and facilitates the subsequent workflow.
